Why did I retreat from the Female Online Business Owner Bubble?

Over the last few months I noticed that everything I was seeing and hearing was about online businesses and coaches. And the messages and conversations were getting more and more toxic to me. I’m tired of the endless talk of hiking your prices and selling premium and coaches coaching coaches who coach coaches and all that – without their being any real value delivered to people who buy into it.

I wanted to learn how to write better. I wanted to learn what other people are doing. I wanted to learn from people who’ve built actual real life businesses with real audiences. People who are actuall earning money and not just pretending that they had their latest $100k month and just chase after the money to shout about bigger numbers – without their being any evidence of that.

So, here are the people I still follow and I’m telling you why.

Newsletter Recommendations 1. Ali Abdaal – Sunday Snippets

I have been following Ali Abdaal since his days as a medical student, and he has no doubt come a long way since then. It’s been really interesting to me to watch his consistency on his YouTube Channel, and the improvements he’s made over time. I also appreciate his honesty around his struggles with procrastination and consistency and have recently been following his journey around growing his business and the mistakes he is making.

So, I read Ali’s Newsletter every single week without fail. Why? Because he first and foremost talks to people like they’re humans – and these days that seems rare, since you often find yourself just being a number on the list.

He always has interesting thoughts and book recommendations, he shares things that he has found inspiring this week, like interviews with various people and I generally align with his interests, so that works really well for me.

Newsletter Recommendations 2. Codie Sanchez – Contrarian Thinking

I came across Codie Sanchez a few months ago in an interview on a channel I watch a lot. And I liked that she had a background and finance and venture capital – and therefore brings a way more logical approach to business.

I also liked that she found a way to make money that doesn’t revolve around blabbing about abundance and selling coaching to coaches.

While I can’t really benefit from her approach of buying boring businesses, because I’m based in Albania and even boring businesses here don’t really make a lot of money, I’ve still found it useful to get business news from actual real life businesses instead of just the usual bla bla you get in the online world. She shares up to date news on what’s happening in various industries and I love being kept in the loop

Newsletter Recommendations 3. Chenell Basilio – Growth in Reverse

One of the things I learned on my NLP Practitioner Training with Richard Bandler last year is that his entire approach has always been based on finding out what successful people do differently – and then model that.

Chenell uses a similar approach in her Newsletter Growth in Reverse, where she takes apart the journey successful content creators have been on, what worked and what didn’t and when things really started taking off. You can take actual strategies from this that you can implement in your business and this is NEVER a superficial analysis – she really goes DEEP into reverse-engineering their success. And I always take something valuable away from this.

I have taken so much away from broadening my mind and learning from other people that don’t just talk about “having money blocks” and take a logical approach to building and scaling a successful business, and I’ve made some very different choices recently based on this varied input, and I don’t find myself drawn into the endless toxic conversations on social media anymore about “how you HAVE TO run your business online” – because none of that stuff has really worked for me anyways.
