Also, I have added a glossary to the site, so you may sometimes see a word underlined with a dotted line. If you hover over this word, you will see a definition to help you understand the content.

The Online Business World is full of waffle, and severely lacks real talk about basic business and economic principles – and missing this information is what will eventually bring your business down.

We spend all this time learning about how to make courses, how to design graphics, how to send emails, or how to be visible on social media, and very little time on the boring stuff – your business finances, operations, team, leadership – and just generally how to get your shit in order.

In the long run THAT is what is going to catch up with you. The economy is always changing – sometimes it’s good, and sometimes it’s… well.. a bit shit.

And you need to be prepared for that to be the case. Your business depends on it. Your personal finances (and therefore partner/family) depend on it. Your contractors depend on it. Your clients depend on it.

When I started my business, I fell into the same trap. More than once actually. I learnt about how to provide a service, how to set up my CRM, how to sell, how to be visible and all that good stuff – and then I fell pregnant. I got sick. I couldn’t work. Suddenly it all fell apart. I didn’t have enough solid processes, I didn’t have my business finances in order, the Math wasn’t mathing. And so I had to let everyone go and scale back. And this happened to more more than once.

Until I finally sat down and decided to end this pattern. I needed to learn about finances (starting with my own!). I needed to understand the economy and how that affects B2C vs. B2B sales (and my personal finances!), what are some general principles that apply, how to have better, leaner processes and all those boring things – and then came the hard part I HAD to follow through with it, no matter who that offended.

And once I did that, I finally had a clear picture on the money actually coming in, where everything is allocated to to reach my financial goals, what I would need to do month on month for me to achieve those goals, and what part the business plays in all this. Plus I put the right processes in place to make sure this actually happened. And I was able to say NO to anything that DOES NOT line up with these goals. And I feel so much more relieved.

So, take the time to learn about the “boring stuff” because that will make you successful in the long run.
